Who was Dr Montessori?

Dr Maria Montessori (1870-1952) was an Italian physician, educator, and innovator. Her philosophy and method of education was developed over many years but is as relevant and exciting today in the 21st century. The method is based on detailed observations of children of all abilities and backgrounds, and was created out of love and respect for each unique child.

Montessori is an educational approach that nurtures a child’s natural curiosity, independence, and love of learning. Developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, it focuses on hands-on, self-directed learning in a carefully prepared environment. Children progress at their own pace, guided by trained educators who support their social, emotional, and cognitive development. Montessori education fosters confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.

"What I have done is merely to study the child, to take and express what he has given me, and that is called The Montessori Method."
